Hi anouk23, always here to listen and help if I can! Keane are sexy in so many ways either in person or with their music aren't they! I think Tom is at his sexiest during a live performance of On The Road, grins! Jules, Chris, thank you for your kind words for me, I was so soley focused on being of help to anouk23 I didn't expect it, I don't know why though as everyone here is so kind and thoughtful, thank you.

good morning, ladies!!!! a gloomy, rainy Monday morning here in Belgium!

anyway, i'm listening to their sessions at Studio C and i always love it when Tom sings the first few notes of SLC before Tim even hits his piano. i dunno, is it just me but there's something sexy there (perhaps the goosebumps i get when Tom sings the first notes of SLC) ...and then they always look at each other! Lovely!

Hi Helen, sorry i've only just read your post. I know you said about losing your father to asbestos lung cancer in another thread but again my heart goes out to you. And i was so touced by what you said about the words to Crystal Ball. I admire what you wrote about not to give up and hide but to start again. It feels like you want to bury yourself and hide from the world when you lose someone who is so close to you and so special, i can relate to that. Having the songs and their emotional lyrics just makes life that bit easier to cope with. Thinking of you Helen.

Wow I just read all of your posts! Kari, I am so sorry to hear about your friend! It must have been incredibly hard! Helen, I'm sorry for your loss too. I myself lost a good friend in a car accident 10 years ago when I was living in Maine and it was so hard! I guess we all have our aches and pains but one thing is for sure: as silly as it may sound (but I know it won't to you all) Keane has a way to comfort us and give us strength through their AMAZING songs! They have been a lifeline in so many ways! Anouk, I'm sure your daughter will be alright. Being a teenager is so hard and other children can be so mean! As long as she has a leveling family that supports her, she will be okay. I will keep her my prayers. Corinne

Helen, Chris and Jules, thank you so much, luvs, for all the nice and comforting words. Yes, I'm grateful and still hoping that she gets all the love that she needs here at home. I try to be very patient with her and very understanding because I truly believe she's going through tough times. Teenagers can be very tought with themselves. I'm not too religious as my Mom, but I do believe in prayers that she'll go through this hurdle unscathed and will have a very fun and memorable teenage life. Again from the bedrock of my heart, merci beacoup!!! thank you so much, guys! *hugs* Take care all of you!

Sorry Kari and anouk23, i've only just read your posts on this thread but i wanted to reply.

Kari, i'm so so sorry about your friend, that must have been heartbreaking for you. And to have all those problems with college on top of that must have been terribly hard for you. I am so glad that you found Keane again. It makes me love Keane even more when i hear how much they have helped us with their music. There are so many wonderful lines that can mean so much to us all and it's just the best feeling knowing that Keane are there for us whatever we are going through. And as you said, they have brought us together here and knowing that we are all here for each other means so much. I have gained strength and inspiration from reading all the stories on the forum, i don't feel so alone and i know i have friends to turn to when things are bad. Thanks for telling us Kari, i admire you very much for that and for carrying on with your studies too. Take care my friend.

anouk23, hi my friend! Yes Tim is brilliant at putting into the words of a song how we are feeling sometimes and it does make you feel that we are not alone. The words touch right into your heart and soul and brings all sorts of emotions to the surface. They certainly have helped me face a few demons and come to terms with my grief. I wish i could help with some words of advise for your daughter. My son had a particularly bad time at schools here in England and this has been very hard on him and me too. I hope that maybe the girls will be able to advise you better than me on school life today. Take care and keep warm my friend.

Hi anouk23, I'm sorry, too, for what your daughter is going through. I *totally* remember when my daughter was that age and would go through similar experiences. Girls at that age can be soooo hard on each other and it can be DEVASTATING for a girl that age. It would break my heart when she'd say things like that too. But you are doing the right thing...just give her all the love, support and comfort you can. It sounds like you and your family are doing just that. It's hard for girls at that age to understand that these things pass quickly, but rest assured they do. It always seemed that after only a few fays she would bounce back and everything would be okay with her friendships, etc. I would always just tell her to be friendly and be herself and things will fall into place. Now my daughter is a very confident 18 year old young woman, and she makes me so proud every day!!! Those days seem like a distant thing of the past and they will for you, too!! Take good care, and give your daughter a hug from me, too! Thinking of you!!

Helen, as always, I'm touched by your story, too. I LOVE that line from Crystal Ball, too. I always sing it with great gusto because I was SOOOO THERE...and it always reminds me that I have to just keep my heart open and carry on!! Take good care , Helen!!

Rebecca, Kari, I'm so sorry to hear about the losses you have experienced in life. I lost my father in 2009 to asbestos lung cancer so I understand the pain of grief. Again, it does seem that Keane's music is always there as a comfort to us and of course we are here to support each other! I identify with many lines in Keane songs that some of you have mentioned on this thread, the one I first remember hitting me right between the eyes was I lost my heart, I buried it too deep, under the iron sea from Crystal Ball. I'm sure I've mentioned before this line always reminds me not to give up and run away and hide but to get up and start again.

Anouk23, I'm so sorry to hear about what your daughter is going through. I had a tough time getting through school so I can identify with your daughter, she is not alone in having gone through this kind of thing. It sounds as though she has a very loving family to help her through the tough times. I have never found it easy to make friends particularly in situations where you are thrown together with people you wouldn't otherwise spend time with ie school, work but as I've got older, I find I am able to analyse situations (but try not to dwell too much) to see if there is anything I can do different next time to help make things easier and sometimes it really does work, takes a lot of hard work but it helps. I hope I haven't rambled on too much here and really hope this is of help. Thinking of you.

hi Katrine21x.I love Noyhing In My Way tooand can full get what your saying about the voices overlapping and headphones are a perfect way to listen to their songs as you can hear every note and word clearly.I`m Emma from the UK btw.

I'm so sorry about your friend, Kari. Meanwhile, isn't music supposed to be about emotions? The papers calling KEANE weedy is rubbish. I don't mind being weedy as I prefer to be human.

Kari thanks for sharing about your life story especially in school. Last night, my daughter confided in me and I just don't know what to say. I thought she's having a fun time in middle school as her primary school wasn't that fun, so she said. She told me she doesn't have friends, and I told her to reach out and to be more friendly but she said each girl already has a bestfriend or someone. And I told her it's perhaps her classmates are intimidated by her cuz she's always the first or the second in the class. What saddens and terrifies me the most was when she said, "I'd rather die, Mama. My life is nothing and I'm useless." And she was just 11-years old back then. I just hugged her and embraced her and comforted her that she has all the love from her grandparents, aunts and her parents and cousins. Trust me, I do pray for her each and every single day. I cannot imagine what she's going through as I haven't had problems like these when I was growing up. Kari, I would really appreciate it if you would help me on this department to find the right words (if there are) to say... As they say, motherhood is indeed the toughest job in the world. Chris, any thoughts? If I'm not mistaken you've got two kids in college now, haven't you?

Hi Kari, I was really touched by your story, too! I'm so sorry about your friend I can't imagine how difficult that must've been. I'm so glad that you found Keane again at just the right time. Isn't it amazing how for so many of us their music just seems to 'find us' at just the right time...when we seem to need it the most? I think it's truly amazing. I'm so glad that their lyrics have helped carry you through such difficult times. And I'm sooo happy that we all found each other, and can help and support each other as well!!! Hi Rebecca, Melanie, and katrina21x, I'm Kari from the US!! As Jules already said, welcome to the forum, it's so good to have you here!!

Rebecca, sorry I'm a little late with seeing your story about My Shadow, but add me to the list of people who was touched by your story! I went to high school with a couple of twins and they always seemed to have an unmistakable and unique bond - I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for you to lose your sister. You have definitely found a place where there are a lot of people who share that same love for Keane that you have!! As everyone else has already said, you definitely have friends here to help you out!

Keane has definitely saved me as well...I first new about them in 2006, but sort of lost track of them until I thankfully rediscovered and fell completely in love them in 2011 when I was at an all time low. I heard 'Somewhere Only We Know' in a movie trailer - I recognized it as Keane and the lyrics immediately took me back to a simpler time in life, so I went home and bought all of their cd's, and as Chris said, the rest is history!! Nothing seemed to be going right at that time - a very good friend of mine had committed suicide just a few weeks before, which I had felt I could've done more to prevent, and I had started classes at a new college where I was really struggling with the material and was constantly put down/ridiculed and told I wasn't good enough by instructors. I felt so alone in the world even though there were still people I could go to - everything and everyone seemed to be chipping away at me until there was nothing left. Keane's music provided a way for me to escape that reality....and then when Strangeland came out last year, I felt an even greater bond with their songs. The part in 'The Starting Line' where it says "the ground is uneven, we stumble from day to day, but shelter where it's easy, I know your feet are like lead, but you've got to get underway" really resonated with me because that's exactly how I had felt when I rediscovered Keane - just stumbling from each day to the next feeling tied to the ground and hopeless, and then forcing myself to get underway with the help of their songs. Also, later when it says "I know you've been kicked around, but tie up your thoughts and lay them down on me" really expressed how I felt Keane were/are helping me along. Obviously I can't lay my thoughts down on Keane themselves, but their music helps me tie up my thoughts in my own mind, if that makes sense....And more importantly it's because of Keane that I'm friends with so many wonderful people on here that share my love of Keane and who are willing to listen/help any time, Keane related or not. Keane have certainly opened my heart/mind to the world again. The part in 'On The Road' that says "when things get bad, you know you'll have a friend, all along the road" definitely applies there too. I feel like Keane and everyone on here will always be there for me when other parts of my life have me down!

I have loads of favourite lines from KEANE songs which just tells us how brilliant Tim Rice-Oxley really is. As of this writing, "wrap yourself around me" wherein Tom really sings his heart out just warms me up and clothes me....AND "each heart is like a paper kite blown away by the breeze...." Oooooh....their songs just soothe me endlessly.....

Rebecca, you made me cry with your story. Don't worry we're all in this together. YOu've got friends here. We may not post as much as Jules (Hi, my friend! ) but you may all have noticed I'm often at the Words game, apparently, rest assured, I'm sure we all get to read the posts from everyone. Take care!

Nothing in my Way - when the voices overlap "I don't wanna go I don't wanna stay" "You're having such a nice time" I just think it blends beautifully I've always got lost in my headphones at that point =)
