Re: How did you discover Keane?
I was browsing in HMV in 2007 looking for some inspiration. I spotted 'Hopes and Fears' which has an unusual album cover and remembered a friend had it, but I'd thought it was a bit boring. When I played it at home full blast I was hooked-my first favourite of all was 'Sunshine' which I found breathtaking. I then bought 'UTIS' and became a fully paid-up member of the Keane Admiration Society. I think I'll still be listening to them when I'm I'm very old............My first love has always been Tim as the songwriter, because his writing is so unique, and he is so modest.....but then they're all special and modest people. I love them all very much for being such honest perfomers. daniel_san_18:mmm....Well the only song I've heard of Keane until 2006 was Everybody's changing, that was of course on 2004,
at that time I didn't hear a lot of rock or pop music, I played the piano (I still do) but only classical...,So on great day of 2006
I hear this song.. 'Is it any wonder?' on the radio, I think they just played it like 3 or 4 times more on that radio station before
they take it off but from the moment I heard it it was amazing, 'Only a great band could come up with such a great song' I thought, and it was true...So that same day I bought Hopes and fears and Under the Iron sea, after that, listened their B-sides, watch their live shows, trying to find out more and more about this great band, making covers of them and eventually became.... the BIGGEST fan of Keane!

Re: How did you discover Keane?
The first time I listened them was in 2004 with 'Somewhere Only We Know'. A very tough year to me. It's was really 'Hopes and Fears' to me. Their songs meant and mean a lot to me. Since then, Keane are one of my favourite bands. I also love the new sound of some songs from the album 'Perfect Symmetry' (because some have a bit 80's in it and I also love the 80's lol so... :D

Re: How did you discover Keane?
I'd always been aware of Keane since they first started. I'm ashamed to say I didn't pay that much attention to them. In fact, when I saw one of my teachers at school with a copy of H&F I wanted to know why they liked such a miserable band .
Gradually, though I began to like their music and even bought a copy of H&F myself because of SOWK and EC. It wasn't until UTIS that I began to sit up and take notice of the band properly. I heard IIAW, thought it was alright but it was NIMW that was key to me appreciating the band for the artists that they are.
Now is the time of our comfort and plenty These are the days we've been working for Nothing can touch us and nothing can harm us No nothing goes wrong anymore

Re: How did you discover Keane?
haha... this all sounds a bit lame but i was introduced to keane on american idol a couple of season's ago (keep in mind i'm only 15) maybe some of you guys have watched it but blake lewis is from my hometown and he sang SOWK and i really fell in love with the song. i looked for ages trying to find the original artist and then one day while browsing itunes i came across keane and immediately bought Hopes & Fears! it was amazing but UTIS really started my obsession with them and it's gotten worse since PS came out! they are my all time favorite band and i'm seeing them live for the first time in a couple of days!

Well... I love american idol!
I´ve always asked myself why don´t they choose a Keane song?

Re: How did you discover Keane?
A few years back, I remember hearing SOWK at my local ice arena, and I fell in love with it (note, not Keane). So I downloaded it, but didn't bother listening to any other songs from Keane. Two years later, I remember seeing the IIAW video at my friend's house, and I didn't like it so much (still my least favourite Keane song), so I was kind of neutral about Keane at the time. A year and a half ago, I heard ABD on a TV show, and I loved it so much, I scribbled the lyrics on a napkin, and Googled them to see who they were by. I decided it was time to hear the rest of Keane's repetoire, and voila, I became a Keane fan.
live to love. love to live.

Re: How did you discover Keane?
Hi. This is my first post. I've heard Keane's singles off Hopes and Fears on the radio, then my friend made me a CD of it and I've been a fan since. I especially liked them since I play the piano and could play along with their songs. Went to my first Keane concert May 9th at the Hollywood Palladium with my sister and it's taken me to a whole new level of appreciation for them. I came on here to watch some video clips and read through some of their blogs and interviews. Wow, what a great bunch of guys.
Montreal was the best night of my life. Tim was even more perfect than I had ever imagined.

Re: How did you discover Keane?
Maybe, I discovered KEANE in the second half of 2006...that was a little happenstance. One day, I was watching 'The English Premiere League Football' which recorded. After the game finished, the video which introduces each clubs were shown until the next program starts. The songs of the British bands were playing there as background music. I was fascinated by a one of the tunes, and I liked the song in no time. But I did not know the song name and band's name because not displayed on. I replayed the video repeatedly and caught some lyrics and searched 'Who is the man I see' on the Internet. The answers were easily found. I knew only a name about a band called KEANE. A few days later, I listened UTIS and became their big fan, and continues up to now. If someone ask me my most favorite song of them, I will always answer, 'Crystal Ball'.

Re: How did you discover Keane?
I must admit that for a year or so I'd only listen to Keane while getting stoned and even then it was only Sunshine, Untitled 1, and Bedshaped. After being introduced to them, I'd listen to them on and off for a while but then last fall I hit a rough spot in life and their lyrics began to speak to me like nothing else and it really helped me out. So I've been a fan for about two years now and saw them in Chicago on Saturday which was an amazing show and completely worth it.

Re: How did you discover Keane?
In the Danish radio a s***load of years ago.
I actually first thought it was Travis until I told my gran to shut up so I could hear the name of the band playing - she still hasn't forgiven me for that :D
Mind you, I think it might have been in 2004, because it was EC and Danish radios are so f***ing slow to get the international music!

Re: How did you discover Keane?
I had heard "Somewhere Only We Know" and "Everybody's Changing" on our local alternative station, WFNX, several times in 2004, but it wasn't until May 2005 that I got hooked on them.
My husband and I were on vacation in France and SOWK came on the radio as we were eating in a cafe in Brittany. It seemed the perfect song for that moment, and I bought Hopes & Fears when we returned to the States. :)

Re: How did you discover Keane?
Everybody's Changing was a hit in our country back in 2004/2005. I loved the song but didn't bother to know who was the band behind it. Until just last year my officemate kept on playing a set of really great beautiful songs in the office. Curious that I am, I looked at her computer and learned it was Hopes & Fears by a band named KEANE... I searched who they were and learned they already released 3 albums. Instantly, I said I need to get all those three so I headed to a record bar and bought them. Then I fell in love with their music and they even inspired me to play the piano again... KEANE music became my vitamins, can't get going until I have a dose of it. Thanks Keane & km.com! I'm still hoping that one day I'll see them perform live...

Re: How did you discover Keane?
I always loved music (even though my parents weren't big music people) but was the type of person that would never remember the band names or song titles of songs (so you can imagine how that went trying to buy things!), so in late 2003, I was listening to a lot of internet radio stations to broaden my horizons, find some new music..etc. I was listening to Virgin Radio and all of a sudden, "Somewhere Only We Know" comes on and I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the song (the piano, Tom's voice..everything!). Became totally obssessed with finding out where they were from, when their album was coming up, if they were going to be playing live. Was bummed to find out I had just missed their gig at Mercury Lounge in NYC (Nov 2003) by a week (GAH! 250 capacity venue!) so when I found out they'd be playing Knitting Factory in 2004, I was there! Ever since then, I've gone to as many shows as I can and yesterday marked my 17th time seeing Keane :)
