So I'm not the only one who is annoyed by that! They don't understand the difference between "Far East" and "Far Eastern Asia", do they? And I just hope they recognize the importance of touring the places at this time of the year, if you use big words like you sing about peace and love. OK rant is over.

I'm sorry to say that I didn't check the shops at the festival. So not sure about the T-shirt.

Yes he did the middle 8 part. The response from the crowd was so low. You should see his face! Tom's bitter smile: "that is not enough, come on!" XD

Oh, what a bummer for both the fans and the band.  Here's to better luck in Tokyo.  Thanks for your honest review, Satomi.

I'm sorry to say this but today's Osaka show was the worst Keane gig I have been to. ;( There was nothing wrong with Keane, but the sound was beyond terrible. Bass level was so bad it turned to be noise. ;( I'm guessing again, but Keane noticed that too. It was visible. So frustrated and sad to see them suffering that situation. How do you think if the sound you are making is damaging the performance? Poor Jesse, and Tim for his bass synthe during Spiralling. But it looked like Jesse enjoyed this at the end of CB; he used the noise like fading-effect.  I saw you smiling, Jesse! Maybe Summer Sonic thought Keane didn't have any bass player so they forgot to tune the bass sound correctly? But I remembered this stage (ocean stage) has been like this for years. Not an ideal stage for a band like Keane. ;(

Tim had a difficulty in switching the effecters for CP-70. He couldn't change it with his left foot so he used his left hand. What was wrong with this stage?

The performance was short, but I was so relieved when it ended. This was a torture to me, and I'm sorry for Keane. ;( They deserve better than this. My face during the gig was literally this ";(" I couldn't smile or sing along. I hope Tokyo gig will be better for them.

By the way, regarding the other acts I liked ELEPHANT KASHIMASHI. I will see them at Tokyo again. :) Oh, Lady Gaga was impressive. The show was so loud, as if to win over the noise and say "f*ck this!" lol That was a clever move. It worked and the crowd went "woooowwww". She changed the place into something different. It was quite a show.

 
Oh if you think today's performance was good, why don't you post your review? I hope to see more Japanese here in this forum.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I'm just back from Tokyo. I have never liked Tokyo and I'm pretty sure I never will XD, but I'm so proud of Tokyo (or Chiba). The crowd and atmosphere were better than Osaka, and it was a great show. 

The venue was a stadium, and to tell you the truth I wasn't sure about Keane playing at stadiums. Since the stadium was not built for musical events, the sound was not good but we didn't have the problem like Osaka. And how could I forget that Keane loved playing at stadiums? It was a great privilege to be there, witness Keane performing at the stadium, although the venue wasn't full. They know how to play at stadiums.

Since Osaka was kind of a disaster, they tried to boost the crowd from the start. This was different from the Osaka show, where they looked awkward due to the sound problem (and the heat? :P). Anyway, the crowd loved it. This time Tom directed the microphone at us, although the response wasn't good as it should be. But thank you for Tom for trying. It meant that you trusted us that we could do that.

By the way, it was apparent that CP-70 had a problem with the effecters. I noticed that at Osaka, but it got worse at Tokyo. Tim apparently knew it before playing IIAW? He struggled to fix the problem while playing the tune, and he pretended everything was fine. :) Some of the audience noticed it, Tim noticed their stares and he waved back at them as if to say he was OK. :D I hope the problem will be fixed soon, before the HK gig. But if you are going to HK, Singapore and South Korea, you will not be disappointed. Oh I noticed that I haven't mentioned anything about Tom's vocal. It was in top form. Looks like he rested well as mentioned in the interview.

And I just read from Richard's photoblog (it was not added any "far east"...lol!) , his experience in Osaka was hilarious, poor Jesse! But it shows Keane fans are everywhere!!! =D

Once again, thanks for the reviews Satomi. I'm glad that the Tokyo gig turned out to be better than Osaka. I hope it'll get better on the next 3 shows. Can't wait to read your reviews of the HK and Singapore gigs!

Happy to hear Tokyo/Chiba was a better experience for all (except the CP-70, poor thing - maybe it doesn't like the heat, or got dropped in transport).  Thanks for another thoughtful review, Satomi, and have fun at the rest of your gigs!

 Thanks for this muse-ic.  I have to say my heart literally broke when you mentioned Tom not engaging the crowd during SOWK.  I can't imagine how awful it was for you to actually be there and witness that.

Still, I'm relieved Tokyo was better.  Thank you for your reviews and I really hope your next two concerts in HK and Singapore make up for it.

Since I was not in Osaka, although I cannot compare, anyway their show in Tokyo (actually at Chiba Marine Stadium) was very nice. Their performance was reliable. Irrespective of various conditions for them which are not good.
Unfortunately the front row seemed to have been almost occupied by fans of Beyonce or Unicorn (domestic famous band). Since Japanese Keane fans are fewer than the other countries, certainly sing-along is weak, but the fans including me who gathered in the center responded to them with big action as much as possible. It would be a little lucky to them (us too)  that there was not sunshine and cool wind blew sometimes.
After the show, favorable opinions to Keane are seen on the domestic board and weblog.
I guess that Keane brought many good impressions to fans of the other bands and musicians too.

Yes most of the reviews on Keane at Tokyo (Chiba) are favourble, but Tom is ridiculed for wearing that silver jacket at SummerSonic Osaka. His face was like in agony but he still kept wearing that till the end. :P
