Yes most of the reviews on Keane at Tokyo (Chiba) are favourble, but Tom is ridiculed for wearing that silver jacket at SummerSonic Osaka. His face was like in agony but he still kept wearing that till the end. :P
=P lol! It's hot in asia this summer, and I hope he'll be fine!
Wearing a jacket with such temperature Of course he was in agony!! Luckily he didn't faint of dehydration or something *lol* crazy Tom

The crowd and atmosphere were better than Osaka, and it was a great show.
The venue was a stadium, and to tell you the truth I wasn't sure about Keane playing at stadiums. Since the stadium was not built for musical events, the sound was not good but we didn't have the problem like Osaka. And how could I forget that Keane loved playing at stadiums? It was a great privilege to be there, witness Keane performing at the stadium, although the venue wasn't full. They know how to play at stadiums.
Since Osaka was kind of a disaster, they tried to boost the crowd from the start. This was different from the Osaka show, where they looked awkward due to the sound problem (and the heat? :P). Anyway, the crowd loved it. This time Tom directed the microphone at us, although the response wasn't good as it should be. But thank you for Tom for trying. It meant that you trusted us that we could do that.
I went to Summer Sonic in Tokyo in August.
You mentioned that Osaka gig was 'disaster' so am I fortunate to see Keane in Tokyo instead of Osaka?
At Chiba Marine Stadium, actually I was a a little surprised the crowd was not responded well than I expected.
I never expected not many people were in Marine Stadium at Keane's gig even though it was daytime.
'casue I thought Keane is popuIar band in Japan.
Of course, the performnace was terrific but I thought that the audience were not that enthusiastic compared to other gigs.
After Keane's performance, next, Razorlight.
I'm not a Razorlight fan but I was a little sad 'cause the audience responded much better than Keane.
If Keane performed indoor area like Makuhari Messe not Marine Stadium,
I guess maybe Keane's gig would pay more attention from the crowd or soemthing.
I just felt Keane was not that popular at Summer Sonic, Tokyo 2009.
Sometimes I just wonder is it becasue of the cancelation in 2006? (as you know, Summer Sonic 2006)
or any other subtle reasons I don't know?

Oh were you at the stadium? I have something for you so please check your PM inbox.
I'm not here to represent Japanese fans (oh why should I do that!?) so please note that I'm posting my opinion.
Firstly Keane are not popular in Japan. Fact: they couldn't sold out their concerts in April. The capacities for the venues were only 800 for Osaka, and 2,300 for Tokyo. As you guessed, mainly it was due to the cancellation in 2006, and after that there was no enough media coverage of Keane.
Secondly, artists from overseas usually say that Japanese audience are polite or quiet. It's funny that some artists think that the crowd are quiet because they are not impressed by the performance. It's not. I think it's because most people here listen to music, rather than screaming or dancing. I think you are from South Korea? I have an impression that South Korean love to show their appreciation to the artists. Sometimes you plan something for them - and this time you organized the big circle during EC. South Korea is a good place to finish the Asian Tour imo. It's just that we have a different way of appreciating shows / music.
Were you there during Razorlight set? They got much smaller crowd than Keane, and heavy rain. I felt sorry for them.
You're leaving so soon. Never had a chance to bloom Thanks to Rich Rich for Keane siggy!

Satomi...I have a little shock for it...cos you said, Keane are not popular in Japan, and couldn't sold out!! Unanticipated.... I thought the tickets of Keane concert was very difficult to buy in Japan...and they are popular in Japan..... Through explanation of you, I can understand, why some Japanese singer come to Taiwan, and they will say that the Taiwanese fans is very enthusiasm...cos we are very crazy...(lol) Keane should come to Taiwan by the way...XD

Thanks.
I know usually Japanese crowd is calm at gig. But waht I mean is it's not a good attitude or soemthing.
I wish I could the audience could make more welcome Keane at Summer Sonic 2009
'cause it's Keane's actual first time Summer Sonic appearance since 2006.
So it was a little surprise for me in a way. (yeah, I'm from S. Korea.)
Of course I understand your opinion. It's a different point of expressing about favorite artists like you said.
So please don't get me wrong.
I didn't see Razorlight gig till the end of time 'cause of pouring rain.
Many people including me leaved Marine Stage in the middle of gig. It never stopped for hours.
However, Smmer Sonic itself is a great music festival. I had a nice time there.

I don't know what you saw there, but I thought that was what Keane deserved. I think you have already seen this, but here is the video of the gig. I don't have the video, it was aired with a CPRM-protection.

You should've come to Keane gigs in this April...the venues were not sold out, but the atmosphere there was great. However, I still think it was great to see Keane rocking in a stadium, even the place wasn't packed.

And here is an interview. I don't have the original recordings, because they were broadcasted with CPRM.

muse-ic: Thanks for the Link and by the way: Is it normal in Japan that they broadcast all with CPRM?

If a program is digitally broadcasted, yes: the music program was aired by a satellite channel which uses CPRM. CPRM isn't applied to analogue broadcasting, though. The person who posted those videos to YouTube knows how to decode and copy it. Sadly I'm not techie.

That one was also aired with CPRM. I'm afraid to say that I don't have it.
