Bedshaped (more for what inspired it anyway), Love Is the End, Try Again and She Has No Time are pretty sad, imo.  I think all 4 of them have made me cry at some point in time.

I think A Bad Dream is their saddest song, which is odd as I've never cried to it.

I have cried to: Love Is The End/ Hamburg Song/ Bedshaped

Now is the time of our comfort and plenty
These are the days we've been working for
Nothing can touch us and nothing can harm us
    No nothing goes wrong anymore

    Love is the End

No one has mentioned A Bad Dream yet? I love how tides of distorted CP-70 add despairing sadness to the lyrics.

I agree, and I think the lyrics themselves are kind of sad.  Besides A Bad Dream, I think Try Again is sad (it's certainly gotten to me a few times) -the heart wrenching way Tom sings it really accentuates the lyrics; He Used To Be A Lovely Boy (again probably more for the way Tom sings it though the lyrics are kind of sad too); Love Is the End, and On A Day Like Today.

Just for the song itself I think Hamburg Song is as emotional and true as it gets... It´s so amazing that Tim was able to put all those feelings in words!

But in a more personal level (right now) Black Burning heart is really emotional for me ... Especially the the part "now I´m racing down a road I don´t recognise..."  Tongue Tied

" You´re full of hope as you begin rearranging. Put it all back together..."

Hmmm, given that hardly any of their songs could be described as a bundle of laughs, this is a tough one!

'Thin Air' though it's one of my favourites, has terribly desolate lyrics. 'I stood right beside you, you turned the other way ...'

Life isn't ever about taking the easy way out ...

Hamburg Song got to be the saddest Keane song, imo. A Bad Dream, Playing Along and Bedshaped are very emotional too. And Rubbernecking and Untitled 2.

Thanks to cjswench for the siggy!

I would say She Has No Time, Hamburg Song and He Used To Be A Lovely Boy and I guess that Hamburg Song would probably be the winner. It has the saddest lyrics from Keane to me... everytime I listen to it I feel so sensitive, it's such a heavy song, really beauiful but too sad.

to the people saying she has no time, try again, hamburg song, etc.. i find those more comforting than sad actually (in the sense that they make ME feel better when being sad), so i'd rather say on a day like today, atlantic or We might as well be strangers, since they deal with departure of some kind.. and yeah love is the end

I'd say She has no time. To be honest...

    Re: Keane's Saddest Song...

Their saddest song is A Bad Dream... it always gets me sad when it says "I was fighting but I just feel too tired to be fighting"... I think that the saddest thing that a human being can say is that he/she won't fight anymore... it's like being dead in live... Indifferent

but sad romantic songs... mmm... Try Again is quite sad too... it always makes me want to cry...She Has No Time too... More Matey, We Might As Well Be Strangers... You Don't See Me too!

A Heart To Hold You is quite sad too, although he says that he will always be there for her... but it always makes me remember that I don't have anyone to tell me that will be always to help so, so... it's sad to me Crying

    Re: Keane's Saddest Song...

Hamburg Song is one of my favourites songs... it's really really sad, I know... it's one of the saddes, of course... but I see a little of hope in the lyrics... when it says "shine a little light" and that he is trying to get closer.. specially in the first part when it says that he only wants to make him/her feel loved... I think that if you keep on trying things can change...

I haven't named Atlantic... that's sad too, but I think it's more a fear of lonelyness in the future... I think it's just a song about that fear, not the sadness on itself 'cause he still doesn't know if he will be lonely or not... great song!!

oops... I've forgotten about Thin Air too... everytime I listen to that song I get scared of loosing my friend...

Broken Toy is quite sad too!

On a Day Like Today, no question.

yes totally agree!!! it has stayed in my top 3 fav keane songs since the first time i ever heard it. can easily reduce me to tears.

i was also gonna mention black burning heart but only coz about a month b4 i saw them for their perfect symmetry uk tour i was walking to my friends house and it came on. at the time i was so desperately excited about seeing them again i was imagining the crowd singing along to the song (as its one of my favs of PS), and that feeling you get at the concert when u hear thousands of other fans singing with u came rushing back and made me cry. so it was a kinda happy cry but i balled my eyes out when they did it live coz it was so beautiful!

Their most "tearjerker" songs for me, personally, are Love Is the End, Black Burning Heart, She Has No Time, The Way You Want It, and On a Day Like Today because the lyrics are so profound. Hamburg Song, Try Again, and He Used To Be a Lovely Boy make me very sad because they remind me of Tom's problems...and while Bedshaped isn't exactly sad, it definitely has something very...cathartic about it, if that makes any sense.

    Untitled1 for me , a haunting tune

    A house on fire
    A wall of stone
A door that once was open
An empty face and empty bones
    Who ate your heart?
    You're cold inside
You're not the one I hoped for
I'll see you on the other side
I'll see you on the other side

The wind wouldn't blow me home
To lie in your heart of hearts
Will I ever see you again
And lie in your heart of hearts

    Who ate your heart?
    You're cold inside
You're not the one I hoped for
I'll see you on the other side
I'll see you on the other side

The wind wouldn't blow me home
To lie in your heart of hearts
Will I ever see you again
And lie in your heart of hearts

She Has No Time .. this song always makes me cry T^T I heard one of the interview Tim wrote this song for Tom 'cause Tom've just been dumped

hmm sorry about that tom don't be too upset. Just go out and find yourself somebody better than the last one. It'll make your old gf REALLY angry, too!

I'm sure Tom's over it; the song was written at least 6 years ago and from what I understand, he's had a steady GF for the last 5 years or so.  :)

Thank you, flyaninnocentlife, it was in my top favs, too. It still is actually. I bawled my eyes out when I heard OADLT for the first 4 times or so. I also agree with the others, Bedshaped, TA, SHNT, all very deep, profound sad songs.
