    Hopes and Fears Deluxe Edition

Is anyone else really excited about this? Big Smile

It's my favourite album in the whole world and I can't wait to hear all the radio session stuff and rare material (:

Thoughts on the price? I think £16 is reasonable, that's the UK price including postage.

I'm really excited too !!!! It's a very good surprise. Songs from zoomorphic, covers, unreleased one..... : I must be dreaming!!!! And I agree, the price is reasonable for 2 CDs.

     I can't wait for this!

I also really hope they release a single the week before- perhaps Bend and Break or We might as well be strangers as these songs weren't released as singles in the UK and I have a feeling they would do really well.

And, does anyone know if deluxe editions of CDs can enter into the album charts? If they can Hopes and Fears could be number 1 again, or perhaps I'm being a bit over-ambitious here?! lol.

Huge lols at the comment on the homepage about Keane and Prince being the only bands that take B-Sides seriously.

I can't believe they didn't see that this should have been the moment to release Gingerbread! Nothing new on the discs really, but it's nice to finally have most of it out there officially, and hopefully in better quality. Tad disappointed at the lack of a DVD though.

Hmmm, I'm quite apathetic about this... we've already had one notional re-release of H&F (in the biodegradable packaging), so I did lot out a bit of a groan when I saw the story on the homepage. I'm also not that impressed with the bonus track selection either: too much that's already been released (didn't we already pay for Into The Light? Surely there were plenty of other unreleased tracks from the period that could have been released?). Having said that, it'll be good to finally get "proper" versions of the Zoomorphic tracks and the one-off live A Heart To Hold You out there.

But it feels like a missed opportunity! More focus on demos or alternate versions of the album tracks would be more up my street, as would finally releasing some of the tonnes of old video footage they have... I know Strangers covered a lot of ground on that front, but I'm sure they've got loads more that's never seen the light of day - would be really interesting to get that footage released in some way.

A lot of my complaints are probably because I'm rather a diehard fan and have already bought most of these before, or listened to those radio sessions... so I'm probably being unduly harsh - for the average fan, it'll be a great collection. And despite all my moans, I'll likely still buy a copy because I'm mad. Wink

That pretty much sums it up for me.

And not to belabor price again, but $200 for the deluxe bundle? Wow.

Re: Hopes and Fears Deluxe Edition

Have to agree with you Mart on some points.  Im loving the huge tracklisting - but do feel some of the tracks seem like we have seen them all before.  I suppose though - this is more to cater not for a die hard who will either have bootlegs of these tracks or of the old Zoomorphic stuff - but for a passing fan who loved H&F and see its out again with extras and may buy again just to check out.  Island also not daft in the release date - perfect timing for the shelves of the record stores around the world to hopefully tap into the lucrative Christmas shopping market!!

Like you, I will buy it just cos Im one of these diehards and its a collectors piece.  It will also be great to have the pre H&F stuff in proper quality too.  I agree more demos would have been good and releasing some more of the video footage from that era that we know they have.  Maybe they have plans for that in the future - who knows?

Loving the tshirt design - but dont think I'll be parting wth the extra £80 for a print of the design.  Im sure they are lovely art prints - but its a lot of money!  Its a shame you cant just get it as a normal poster - Im sure more people would buy it then.

I do like this, and I'm buying the cd. But the t-shirt is... meh. And £85 for the prints???? WTH? They must be golden plated or something!!!

    Nah. Only the CD...

EDIT: By the way, I also have most of the stuff (in fact, the only items I don't have are the Zoomorphic singles) but who doesn't love a new addition to the collection? Stick out tongue

I will buy the cd to add to my collection, although I have most of them already in one form or another, but will be good to have them altogether.

Wasn't overly excited by the t shirt design though.

The 'special package' is a rip off'!

I'm excited, but then again my Keane collection has only recently started to grow beyond the 3 full length standard releases...

especially the art poster not going to pay $200, even if it's signed by the band lol

but might as well add the CDs to my ever growing collection of Keane memorabilia and having all of those b-sides on an actual disk is great.

Ok,am I thick for thinking that "Fly to me" should be an obvious choice for this collection?  I guess it was a B-Side wasn't it?  and arguably their best b-side?

Fly To Me is arguably their best song. Maybe.

I dont know really, I would have preferred something new but I suppose that will come later, I always think bands are ripping people off when they re-invent an existing album with a few extras. I cant think like that though about Keane, I do think the 'bundle' ones seem a bit pricey though but I've spent far more than that on tickets, travel, hotels etc when seeing them live - unforgettable experience and money well spent. Has anybody bought a £120 signed one? I absolutely love the new Sovereign Cafe song we've all been listening to on You Tube and also My Shadow, neither of these are on the new Hopes And Fears though.

Why does it say that it will be available on 9/11/09 when September 11th has already passed?  I'd love to pre-order one, but we're passed the date already.  ??

As rip off's go i dont think its that bad. Come on, seriously?

It will probably show up on play.com or amazon cheaper, i think its fairly comprehensive, and although i have probably 90% of the tracks, it will be good to get better versions.

I agree they should have used this opportunity to release those tracks people mention but i've never heard! But guys.. what will they have left for the 25th Anniversary box sets? I'm assuming next time its released it'll be in 5.1 and include a bonus DVD - like the Genesis remasters just did.

And for those of us who distrust MP3 its finally a chance to get some of these tracks in lossless formats.
