Keane and how they relate to Twilight

OK. So I already KNOW I am getting taken to the wall for this. I have read the books 26 times, in just over a year. I happened to find Keane at about the same time. So for me it works naturally. Not all songs work but 85% I say do. I love Keane they are WONDERFUL!   Made my life 100% better since I heard them. Living in Kansas has it's drawbacks and never hearing Keane til my husband found them for me sucks rocks! I missed a lot! If you read the books and know the stories as well as I do, then you would (will) understand. I know you will say get a life, well life sucks, so I chose Keane and the Twilight books. Really, put in Keane and read, if I can get my 58 yr old hubby to read em and he is ok with it, well. I am not a tween, Cougar, (43),  would be the right word....married nearly 24yrs.

This post would be miles long for me to explain how each song works, that is not for me to determine for others. Everyone has favs..I  have 14 cd's of my creation of songs that have inspired me for reading the books and Keane take up 3 songs on the last 6 cd's. I had not heard them for the 1st 5 cd's, they have 2 songs on cd 6.

So now you know the method to my madness. Keane works for everything! Maybe that should be the American health care phrase...

Maybe I am just a sucker for all things English...married one....

Start the assault now....I know it's coming....but if you can't be passionate and have a reason for life....what point is it...??

You can take the girl out of Iowa but not Iowa out of the girl. Keane is my life..along with Twilight...they work well together!

wales dear, glad you are back. you shouldn't have to justify what you love and are passionate about because together we all love keane, right? i understand b/c like you are with keane/twilight i am that way with keane/electronica and can be in my own crazy little dance remix hip-hop politico hypersensitive world talking nonsense as a newbie keanester ahhaja. so you are totally fine, hon.

i am open to learning about new things so, tell me what is it about vampires that you like? what other keane songs do you think go well with twilight? how about my shadow? we were talking about that in another thread....and finally in my own confessed fangirl moment (lol), don't you think - ohh.. never mind - i saw them again and think i was just imagining stuff i want to see *blush*

    those darn vampires...

Re: Keane and how they relate to Twilight

Hey glad I have not ticked everyone off. Vampires, that they get to live forever and SEE history, I love Medieveal Welsh and English history, I like that the Twilight (good vamps) don't "eat people", neither does Mick from Moonlight or Steafan from the Vampire Diaries ( hard to believe I am 43, eh?).

Ok you asked for it, here are all the Keane songs that work totally with the Twilight Saga..all 4 books....

    Not in order:

    Somewhere Only We Know-Meadow  1st one I heard....perfect

Bend and Break.. My 1st fav

    Everybody's Changing

    You Eyes Open

    Can't Stop Now

    Leaving So Soon

    Hamburg Song

    Put It Behind You Now

    Crystal Ball

    This Is The Last Time

    Something In Me Was Dying

    BBH

    Perfect Symmetry

    Again and Again

    The Lovers Are Losing

Love Is The End..One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard!!!

    Under The Walnut Tree

    My Shadow-is great-right you are

The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine No More

    Staring At the Ceiling

    With or Without You

Thin Air...which I love as well...

I have 6 more ready...but they are not on my playlists...YET!

I have always been a vampire junkie....grew up with Abbott and Costello and Creature Feature..Salem's Lot, Lost Boys...never liked or read Anne Rice tho.. I have the Moonlight dvd--the show they cancelled after one season and now regret it loads!  Also, love the Underwold's..Lucien is Aro....whoa!!  Lucien head of Werewolves..aka Lycans in Underwold now head of Vamps in Twilight...Michael Sheen.

That's me! In a small nutshell.....

You can take the girl out of Iowa but not Iowa out of the girl. Keane is my life..along with Twilight...they work well together!

well, i think most of these keane songs can be applicable to a lot of things including twilight, yes? maybe that's why keane have such a resonance with various audiences and multiple uses (like my little dance remixes ahah).  yeah, that's interesting about your thing with medieveal welsh and english history and stuff. i remember when i was growing up, i used to have this crazy fascination with all those old school woodcuts of witches, werewolves, and vampires all that supernatural scary stuff esp the movies like rosemary's baby, carrie, the exorcist. it's weird how i took pleasure in scaring myself silly even at a young age!  (ohhh. halloween is coming up, perfect post timing!)

btw, have you heard of this movie called 'moonchild'? it's not just about vampires either (family, friends, gangs, love, etc..). i love these dudes called gackt and hyde in this movie because they they are actually super popular pop and rock stars (visual kei stuff) in japan for real and they play the main vampire roles. like you are now with 'twilight' i used to be a yaoi manga fanatic as well so i love this stuff. funny, i was just listen to some dj from tokyo. ahaha here's a link (a bit graphic with blood and guns): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTXs3kknnqs

Re: Keane and how they relate to Twilight

I agree, Keane has meaning to everyone! I also found more songs on my mixes....

    Try Again

    Spiralling

    Closer Now

    Perfect Symmetry

    Leaving So Soon

I actually got my hubby to admit he likes Keane better than Coldplay....me too of course....

Lord Byron...you must check out the Sharon Kay Penman books...another  author you may like is Diana Gabaldon...very long books tho....good but long...

hi wales, thanks for these author finds.  there's a thread on what your reading now in the general chat section. i am stuck with mostly intense theory/philosophy books for school but i love reading historical fiction stuff for pleasure. one of my faves is mary renault. i love this woman! she does more stuff around greek/roman history. my fave book is 'the persian boy.'  i also love umberto eco who wrote a lot of cool stuff too like 'the name of the rose.' btw, i'm gonna have to convert you to some alternative hip hop - flying lotus, k'naan or mf doom maybe? ahaha just kidding! you like what you like but together we all love keane. :)

Having just read more of the book again and listening I must explain for those that don't know my vamps the "Cullens", are good vamps as in they only drink the blood of animals. Still innocent and all, but not human blodd. I love Black Burning Heart, it is great, and not the only song that works, I was just listening to the the Calling, Wherever You Will Go, it is sooo perfect for the 2nd book. I really don't want to give things away, because I am hoping maybe someone will read them. Honestly, can't say why they got shoved into young adult, because they aren't. The stuff they deal with is so not...we as adults would know. I will keep trying,,,,to convince you...just like my dj with Keane....Goonies never say die! Long live Keane and Twilight!

    Oh my dear God...

I have read it twice, and seen the film about 12.

I don't think Keane really relate to Twilight... But He Used to be a Lovely Boy would make a good backing track for a Ianto Jones Torchwood memorial!!

Re: Keane and how they relate to Twilight

They work really, I can't believe how many and when I hear a song I am like..Wow that is perfect!  You really have to know the characters and the theme to get it! I do so it works for me. This is the Last Time, listening tonight....omg so the part when Edward leaves her...Most of the songs fit New Moon..   Not all. Your Eyes Open...perfect...Edward is so lonely and so use to being cast off he can't believe someone wants to know him....again perfect...

Everybody's Changing....Native Americans turning into Werewolves and Jake figuring it out....to cool..  Somewhere Only We Now is SOOO the Meadow scene.. As I have said BBH is Bella in Breaking Dawn, Can't Stop Now..Edward leaving in New Moon...Same as Leaving So Soon, Hamburg Song...Bella she hates attention, Bend and Break....If she makes it thru to the other side...Something In Me Was Dying...Edward before he meets Bella.

Ok, so you get the gist....not all work..BUT when you KNOW the books as well as I do...

Wish me luck,,tomorrow night 1st night of Twihard trivia at the bars...aka Buzztime...little blue boxes....We, me and hubby were #4 internationally for 3 yrs for Passport...a geography based game...I am a travel agent afterall...

Keane and Twilight----give it a whirl!

    okay okay... Embarrassed

you all got me (the princess). the joke was played on me. i'm just a crazy grad student (not using any thing specific here for my diss) and not a big time dj (i hope it didn't sound that way) i just do college and alt radio and a one off here and there. i really am sorry for causing the drama and my mis/overreading and hyper enthusiam for keane and electronic music together along with my random marketing schemes.   you know tons about me now as well so big ouch.  i'll explain in another post but next time just tell me to shut the h*ll up and for me to quit posting so much and everywhere.

Re: Keane and how they relate to Twilight

Ok, so after an 18 month hiatus playing trivia we did OK on Twilight, I did what I always do listen to someone other than my "GUT". I will fix it next week. Bar was 6..not bad. I missed one I had called right....dumb dumb dumb. We recovered in the 2nd game "Spotlight", I called the last question/answer and it's worth 1/2 the pts....

I spent the night trying to get these peeps involved with Keane...most are college prof or hs teachers...hell I feel GREAT when I get things right...

Meanwhile, listening to Keane as usual....thinking of Twilight....Lord Byron...I think we will be great friends..I NEVER mean offense...I am just REALLY passionate about certain things...you think I am nuts about Twilgiht...try me on the Denver Broncos!!! wholly heck!!! Watch out!

You can't peg me in a hole...nope...NORMAL IS BORING!!!!

     Meanwhile, I Can't Stop Now..or maybe I can.....

    Keane/Twilight!!!

fyi Bella's fav book Wuthering Heights....also Romeo and Juliet, Merchant of Venice, Pride and Prejudice....all in the books....really
