Y'Know What Really Grinds My Gears...? #2
Or you can call it 'makes you pull out your hair/kick the dog/punch the wall'.
Had an accident in my house so I called for an ambulance. Then a person who answered my call was like, "are you asking for an ambulance just because someone fell from stairs?" Yes, I know, but I wouldn't call unless it was an emergency. Then I feared that we wouldn't get an ambulance, the person sounded so reluctant to do his job, although I told him he hit his head and couldn't move. It took me a minute (or a few minutes) to explain to him then he finally said "OK, the ambulance is leaving now."
Sorry for calling at 5:30 in Monday morning, but I still believe I made a right decision. He's been ill for a quite long time and had a brain stroke last year, and he hit his head which started bleeding pretty badly, and he was nearly unconscious and couldn't move. So did I overreact?

What the hell? No, of course you didn't overreact. How is he now?
Never too tired to talk, apparently.

OMG!
According to the first aid, it's better not to move his head. Calling for embulance is the best way at that moment! You did right! The person who answered you may not know how severe the situation it is!

Manipulators who think just b/c you are nice to people, they can use you for their own purposes. And I always get so torn b/c I truly believe in living in PS, but it seems that what I should do is what was done to me, not the other way around. And it really grinds me that in order to survive in this world I need to compromise my beliefs and be a shark or else I will be eaten alive... I honestly thought I was the only one who felt this way until I discovered Keane. If life grinds my gears, Keane oils them :)

I'm glad he's getting better, Satomi. Marina, that's awful, I'm sorry. The is no such thing as a British accent. Really truly. I promise. You can believe me. Stop talking about it already!

I hate it when my ears start ringing, i mean it only lasts for like 20 secs or less but i still hate it lol.
And when the phone goes the very second you sit down to watch your fav tv shows, god that's so annoying. Half the time it's nothing but stupid survey's or someone asking if we need a new kitchen or double glazing or market research or whatever. I swear if that happens again i will do something funny like ask them to hold the line and wait for half an hour till i've watched my show hehe chances of them still waiting are slim. See how they like being put on hold lol.

Re: Y'Know What Really Grinds My Gears...? #2
I'm not supposed to get calls like that, so I feel quite justified in putting on whatever music I've got handy and playing it into the phone while I get on with whatever I was doing before.. The only problem is that what I have handy is usually...I think you can guess. My gear-grinder for today is having to buy second-hand paperback editions of books when the people I lent out my hardback copies to haven't returned them. It always seems a bit obsessive to make a note of who's borrowed my books, but when they're not returned I don't remember who has them.
Never too tired to talk, apparently.

That always happens to us, too, so the last while my mum has started writing down who has them. Doesn't necessarily make it easier to get them back, but at least we know at whom to direct the evil glares. (Joking. Mostly.)

I have a stinking cold. Although, since my nose is blocked with gunk, I can't really smell anything. Feck. Give me some Lemsip - Stat!

Colds are horrible, as well as the flu. Mind you since you say you clearly can't smell a thing, it may be a good thing if anyone around you lets one rip if you don't know what that means then it's farting
Oh and just a quick thank you for being one of a few on here who can actually manage to swear in their posts without actually swearing. I mean there's no need for using real swear words on here it should be against the rules to use bad language or there should be filters in place like there is in PM's. Anyone can read these forums even children so please bear that in mind those who do swear regularly, at the very least they can use asterisks in place of some letters as im sure most people will know what the word is meant to say. Im not trying to sound awful about it but people need to remember some of us might be offended by the use of bad language and the mods on here should be more aware of that too but at the end of the day they can choose to ignore it if they wish to im purely airing my opinions on the subject.

Thanks for the... er... silver lining, Wayne. I know what you
mean about swearing. I use a lot of asterisks because I can't resist
swearing, and I do swear like a trooper on Facebook, but there's a
filter for a reason. Not everyone on here is old enough and some people
are offended by bad language. Most of us 'get' the words with
asterisks/symbols/soundalikes, there is literally no need to spell it
out.

Well, after a couple nights ago. Emabarassing myself and someone else. It's like having a hangover. It's the worst feeling.
I will say this though. I don't think General Chat is a place for little kids to play. General Chat is for adults.
I agree that the asterisks are a good way to swear without spelling it totally out. Though it is fun to see the F-bomb every once in awhile.
