    Ghosts

They were the support at the O2 I think? Saw them as a support act when I went to see Air Traffic a while back, thought they sounded very Keaneish. First album had some really good songs. Am I alone here?

No, you're not alone, I like them to. My favourite song of them is "The World is Outside", I think.

I love Ghosts! I went to see them play a gig at Hard Rock Cafe a few months after they supported Keane. I ended up getting very drunk with the band afterwards as they invited me and my other half into the VIP bar to drink free beer with them because they couldn't believe we'd made the effort to travel from Norfolk to London just to see them (it's only a couple of hoursConfused!). Really nice people, had a great laugh with them.

I've been really disappointed with them recently though because they haven't updated their website or made any contact with fans for months. I wondered if they'd been dropped but got a message on their forum from the lead singers brother saying that they're recording new stuff which should hopefully be out soon so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I did a Hard Rock gig in Manchester and really enjoyed them there - but since about November last year there been next to no update where they have disappeared to.  I thought like you they could have been dropped but have heard since where they messaged a fan on myspace to say they were off recording.  Pretty poor though that they cant update the rest of the fanbase really though - disappointing.

I love Stop and Musical Chairs!

I think there was a statement on their official forum a few days ago by a band member apologising for the lack of communication and saying they were in Sweden somewhere with no internet access recording a second album

It was back in April that Simon (lead singer) posted to say that they had been away in Sweden writing new material. He also said that they would post some pics etc but they never appeared. It's a shame because they seemed to be building quite a fanbase but I think most people have got bored now.

My mistake, it was indeed back in April. That thread has sort of staggered on and recently, i think it was last wednesday, a forum member posted saying he had heard some of the new stuff, so maybe there's hope yet. Or maybe I'm clutching at straws?

Thats certainly the case with me - I joined and posted on their forum after the 02 and they had a bit of a buzz going back then - then after the Koko gig - they literally disappeared.  Their forum seems to be deserted now - I dont suppose much to talk about!   Ill check their new songs out if they ever surface - but the 'fan' in me has lost interest in them partly because they dont seem that interested in their fanbase that they were slowly building.

I really like 'em.  I saw them when they supported The Feeling last year on their forest tour.  I got quite abit of their album on my mp3 player.

I really like album, especially Something Hilarious, Stop and Further & Further Away, and went to the Koko gig on the strength of their performance at the O2. (And at the Koko gig I was bouncing around like a loon...) I look forward to hearing their new stuff, but yes - it has been very quiet lately!

I love Ghosts too, saw them live with The Feeling, Temporary as a set closer at sunset was something special.

News-wise, they have been very quiet, but they are definitely recording new songs - apparently they are a bit different but still excellent - and as far as I know they're still signed to a record label.  If anyone wants to talk on the forum, I'm happy to chat Smile

Ooh how has Bethany not replied to this thread yet?

Ghosts are fab, basically. I think I've seen them live more than any other band... and it's great when you do get to see them cos they take the time out to get to know their fans, which I think is absolutely lovely. Shame they're losing contact a bit lately... but I'm sure they'll get back on track once the new record comes out. Smile

I love Ghosts, shame we haven't heard from them in such a long time Sad Is it true that the record company dumped them?? =/

I just found this article, though, and i must say it made me really happy Big Smile

    http://www.tiscali.co.uk/music/showcase/ghosts.html

I especially loved this part, speaking about the time when they were still called Polanski and trying to get a good deal:

"But Polanski almost made it big. They released an EP, got played on Radio 1. One showcase gig in 2003 attracted nearly 100 A&R scouts - the second biggest industry turnout that year, behind Keane."

    Winning.
