I have booked 2 tickets for the docks in hamburg, can anyone give me an actual address or website so i can book flights and accomodation somewhere near to make sure i get the correct place .can anyone give me any tips on flights and accomodation?

The Docks in Hamburg is on Reeperbahn, which is the main street of the red light district of Hamburg... so it being on a Saturday, there will be lots going on on the streets after the concert. Hotels nearby are more on the dodgy side, the ones you usually book for just a few hours...    .... the one I was staying in when I went to their concert at the same venue in 2005 was definitely not recommendable... I laid down on top of the duvet to sleep.

I have bought a ticket for Hamburg too and I will check out hotels probably sometime during the next few weeks. I let you know when I come up with a good solution. If anything, we could share a taxi if a hotel is a bit further away. As I want to do some sightseeing in Hamburg too (the port and some of the city is really recommendable), I don't really want a hotel that is in the red light district for the rest of the stay.

Thanks for that, i have booked to take my wife away for our anniversary and we are stopping over 3 nights friday to monday i think, i need to book flights and accomodation and dont want it to go wrong, need to find out how far the airport is. when i looked on the docks website it doesnt show keane in concert so got me worried

The concert isn't close to the airport, about 13 kilometre nearly. And there is only one airport in Hamburg. Are you for the whole weekend in hamburg?

Yes we are hoping to stop in hamburg friday to monday 3 nights,its a surprise for my wife, i just need to book flights and accomodation and then we can do some sightseeing when we get there. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction of where to go and what to do!

What I can recommend for sightseeing is a combined bus/boat tour. I did that in 2005 and probably will do once more this time. I took the bus from the main train station (but you can hop on at various stops throughout the town) and than it drove around the center of town and along the Alster (a river looking more like a lake) with lots of nice looking houses and then through the historic parts with the old brick buildings that were warehouses. When it stops at the harbour road, you can get out and take a tour around the big harbour on a boat (I took what looked like a Missisippi steamer) and afterwards hop on the next bus again to finish the town tour. This takes up approx. half a day, but it's really worth it, as you see all the nice parts of the town. I think we even drove past the Docks.

I can also recommend a very nice restaurant offering local North German dishes right in the center of the town, near the town hall. The windows go out on the Inner-Alster, a little basin with ducks and swans and they offer typical local food, which is delicious. It's called Friesenkeller. It's not posh, but really very nice.

I think we will look at staying in the centre if its not too far from the venue and depends on the cost!!!

What a lovely surprise and Hamburg is such a nice town to travel and visit. Don't be worry about the docks, it is often used for concerts. Actually a very small venue... I probably will go from Friday to Sunday or Monday, as I want to check out the city again. I loved it so much when I was there in 2005, but as it was Easter, everything was closed. What a great idea to surprise your wife with a trip like that. It really is a lovely city to visit. A hotel in the centre should be ok. As far as I remember, there's a direct underground from the main train station to near where the Docks is. I remember the venue being small and hot... and it was easy to meet them afterwards, as the tourbus was just parked in the street at the back of the venue.

I saw Keane 5 times so far this year. I was at both shows in Bexhill, saw them here in Zurich at a very inimate and small showcase, then again did both shows at Brixton Academy. I have also bought tickets for Hamburg, Berlin and Zurich (here, the hall is a 15 minutes walk from where I live).
