    General queries

    Quick couple of questions:

    1) in the inbox, is it right that we see the mesages we've sent in the same place as the ones we receive?  Is there no way of seeing if you have new messages without having to go into it?

    2) What's all this adding friends business?  What does it actually do?

    3) Am I the only one to find this forum running slow?

    4) What is the picture of two little people by my username all about?!!  They're making me feel uncomfortable!

Any help/advice/comfort would be grand! Wink

     3) It is uber slow, the best being the quick reply that takes as much time as the regular one to pop up and post....

^^There's a tab menu up at the top when you reply/write a message; there's compose, options, related, and preview; then just click on preview. Smile

    Re: General queries

     1) I sent a message your way for testing purposes. :) My message doesn't show on my profile at the 'private messages' area, but it does once I click 'view all messages' at the bottom. So I do believe all message, in and out, will be shown in one inbox. What you could do sort by author tho, so you can easily skip your own messages

     2) No real use to it, it's just that the option is representing the general idea of this kind of forum. It's supposed to look like a community like Myspace or Facebook.

     3) It's slow for me as well, even the quick reply is painfully slow.

    4) It means you're online.

Thanks for your help Locust.  I guess I'll have to deal with the new inbox thingy.  Thanks for sorting me out with all the other queries!

Could you please delete my thread on Keane Music 'Re: Spiralling - send us your thoughts' or put it on the right place. Thank you!

I'm not sure I'm following. That thread has been created by someone else, and as far as I can tell it's in the right place. And your post seems to be too. Wink

    Okay.. a few things...

What's the business with the post rank?  What does it mean?  I only have a few posts... and a high rank.. logic would tell me that I rank towards the bottom of "most frequent" posters then?  Or is this incorrect?

Font.  Is there a way to change it indefinitely or is it just on a post-by-post basis?

...And I had another question but I've forgotten it. LOL.  I'll come back to it if I remember it. Stick out tongue

The post rank is a bit of a mystery. All I can come up with is that it's an average of your number of posts and number of replies to your posts.

Still haven't figured out the font thing, so I'll come back to you for that one.

Just had a look at my own rank: 26 posts and rank 4! So I guess my explanation is far from the truth.Stick out tongue

It says I have just posted  14 times but I am sure I have posted more than that. When I was supposed to have posted 10 times I posted another 3 more times but then the number of posts displayed was still the same 10! what happened to the other posts??

As long as your actual posts show up and other people can see them & reply, it's not really a big deal though, is it? It's the content of your posts that counts, not the number.

I have noticed though that updates on the board take a while (also the update of who has posted last in a thread, your profile updates etc.), so maybe when you check back after a while, your post count will be correct. Try, and let us know, please :)

I meant the thread that I created 'Re: Spiralling send us your thoughts' (Author: 22ivj04). It was my first reply and I've do it wrong.
