Can't wait for saturdays episode, looks good, although i was slightly thrown by michelle ryans Posh accent!

I read in an article at the weekend about what all the old casts of the series skins were now up to and it stated one of the girls from the last series is matt smiths forthcoming assistant, not true is it? i haven't seen it mentioned/confirmed anywhere else.....

Not a huge Doctor fan myself, but my son wants me to ask whether there are any fans of the real, true Doctor Who series about? He's very disapproving of these modern incarnations.

Ooh, me! me! me! *jumps up and down waving madly*

My favourites are Pertwee, Tom Baker & Davison (probably because that's who the doctors were when I was growing up). I really liked the first season of the new incarnation, w/Christopher Eccleston, but not such a big fan of it since he left.

So tell your son, he's not alone!

He's nodding approvingly. He has a shelf full of 'classic'  Doctor Who DVDs, but hasn't really watched the modern series since Mr Eccleston left. We only watched it at all because I have a certain fondness for Christopher Eccleston, so at least the new material showed him what was out there to let him discover the older series himself. He's left the room now, btw, so isn't aware of my inappropriate,em, feelings!

I've got stacks of it on VHS tapes! Only a few on DVD yet. My husband's game to go out and buy the whole series, but I have this strange idea that the mortgage should be paid. . . .

    Don't worry - I'll never tell! Wink

Pertwee was 'my' Doctor, although sadly, I have to report remembering Troughton! Embarrassed

As for the 'Skins' question...if it's from the first series...Cassie (?..blonde one) would suit as slightly dippy but really quite clever if I remember. But Tony's girlfriend (Michelle?) is the attractive one and would complement the slightly kookie look of Matt Smith. Am looking forward to Saturday but won't be watching it till later as I'm working!

From the interviews I've watched he seems like he is really excited and serious about getting into his role.  I look forward to seeing what he will bring to the series, and reserve all real judgment until I see him in action.

But... I suppose it doesn't hurt that he isn't too harsh on the eyes, either. Wink

In my opinon no-one can beat David, I'm not - too sure about Matt to be honest, but I'll have to wait and see...

Looking forward to the Easter episode :)

I don't really know what to expect from the new Doctor, but i thinking of it like this: there's never been a really bad Doctor so far, and would they have chosen him for the role if they didn't think he would bring something to the character and really give it his all? i think he will be different, certainly, but PS was different but underneath it was still definately Keane; Matt Smith will be different but underneath he will still be the Doctor. having said that, DT was fabulous and no-one will ever replace him.

Great to have Doctor who back on our screens again last night, thought Lee Evans was great in it. Arghh wonder what all that 'he'll knock 4 times'' cryptic-ness is all about?

Did anyone else think that ep was bad and the only good thing was Lee Evans. ("I LOVE YOU!!!!!")

LOL. Sorry but i'm glad i watched it just for Lee Evans.

I loved it, but I was really p*ssed off when the Doctor wouldn't let Lady Christina come with him. I thought they were perfect together! Urgh, maybe she'll come back later. And in terms of knocking 4 times, it made me think of the Master. Anyone else think that?

Hmm, got to say, not the greatest episode ever.  A bit weak.  RTD stories, whilst generally excellent, are becoming a bit tired.  The best bit in my humble opinion was the cryptic 'your song is ending/he'll knock 4 times', because it made me realise how much I may or may not sob when DT leaves.

However, saying that, I am more than prepared to give the new Doctor a fair go.

I thought it was quite good, much better than the Christmas episode, which in my opinion was absolutely cr**. I would have loved to see them get that bus into the middle of the desert :P

thank god for the BBC and their repeats! loved the Easter ep, there were some really great lines in that! Lee Evans was FANTASTIC and so was our beloved DT! apparently like 8 million people watched it!

i definatly think the knocking thing was about the Master. BRING BACK JOHN SIMM! he was a brilliant Master...
