Hi, I thought this might be a fun thread to start. We could share some of our Keane confessions just for fun!

 I'll start:

 

When I first bought Hopes and Fears I was only interested in SOWK and EC.

I've bought Hopes and Fears 4 times now. Mostly because I either lose it or break it/scratch it to much. UTS 2 times now.

 

 Lets here some from you guys!

• I really hated Tim for a while after his 2006 MTV VMA appearance (he was looking like a peacock imo) and something he said about Tom's making a speech when they get an award: "It's better just stand and watch Tom when he is disgracing himself."
• After hearing IIAW for the first time, I was really disappointed and I wanted to leave them!!
• I also hated Richy for a while after his interview with Andrew and Chris. The things he said completely broke down the Richy image on my brain, and I felt really upset for a few days.
• I failed a few of my exams when I was in my first year in the high school because I was spending too much time on Keane!
• I'm still thoughtful about their new videos and songs. Getting used to the new stuff is quite a hard job.

I may write more as soon as I remember...

 when i purchased under the iron sea, i had no idea they had another album before that! til this day UTIS is still my favorite cd, even after hearing all the new material.

- I used to see EC on tv, but I didn't speak English back than and I always wondered wtf those guys were doing, I thought it was a lame video :D (if only I knew the title was "Everybody's Changing")

- When I first heard "Nothing in my way" on radio, I thought it was okay. Than they started playing it so often.. I got REALLY bored. After a while they stopped playing and that was the time I missed the song and found it immediatly and fell in love :)

- When I read Tom's in-depth interview about his addiction (and when I saw the pic's cos I thought that it wasn't like him at all), I was almost going to leave them. It was really scary reading what he went through. And I also thought he was being really stupid, but now, I understand. -When I listened to The Iron Sea for the first time, I had to turn it off cause I got scared of the music. That sounds kind-of wimpy, but it really did scare me.

I understand cos wen i listen to the the track the iron sea i find it scary and eary

I can listen to 1 keane song on repeat for a week straight & never get sick of it!

LOL! This is a good thread!

I love Keane's songs on H&F (especially Your Eyes Open--still a favorite), but some of the other tunes had to grow on me.

When I first started watching Strangers, Richard annoyed me a bit.  Whenever I saw his face, I'd sigh...made my sister laugh.  He just looked a bit scary at first..lol

But one day I was really listening to what he was saying as he spoke in the scene where he's under a tree.  Ever since, he's been more than A-Ok with me.

LOL! honestly, someone else has that font in their siggy spelling keane & since I have A N & E in my name I copied their "Keane" & rearranged the letters then added an i which you can hardly see anyway, & there you have it!

I have not purchased Perfect Symmetry yet! 

 

I will sometime. Don't worry ;) I thoroughly enjoy Spiralling. 

 I really really *really* hate the following videos, in that order: Spiralling, CB, ABD, NIMW (does that even count?), and one of the SOWKs (too sleepy to rmemeber which one)

 I used to hate SOWK and I never wanted to hear anymore songs by the "boring, crap band".

I carry PS in my bag with me LOL because ... ya never know.

I hate TFP and LITE.  I can't listen to them without feeling bored and just annoyed. I don't really care for Broken Toy either but I don't hate it, and I'll listen to it fully. TFP and LITE make me hit the "next" button so fast.
Or actually to keep my OCD brain happy, I'll mute iTunes and do something else so it gets a full playcount, but only if I listen to the CD as a whole (what? I'm very ocd )

Me too! Especially when which was wearing glasses. The first way to tell them apart that I thought of was to look at the noses. Rich's is very narrow and straight, and Tim's is just normal. Not weird at all...

I misheard the DJ when I first heard SOWK on the radio, and spent days wondering who this Des Keen feller was.

I like this thread a lot!

1. Tim's lyrics piss me off. Always. Annie NYC knows this. I complain to her about them often. Mainly, I think that they are too subjective to be appreciated by most people. Keane does have a big following, but not as big as other bands. In my opinion, Tim's inability to write lyrics is a huge reason why. With the new album, I feel like it's not fair that Tim tries to give "advice" to the "little people." Like in "Better than This," he suggests that people are missing the mark by being obsessed with celebrity culture, and should instead work on bettering the world. Tim doesn't understand that not all people have the motivation and the ability as he does to take control of their lives in such a way. We all come from different places, different homes, different parents. For some, it's a struggle to get out of bed. Read your Fitzgerald, Tim!

2. Once, I cried because I realized I'll never know Tom in real life. And I wasn't drunk.
