A-HA
They are too good a band *not* to discuss.. besides - we had fun in our A-ha thread on the other board. So - what's new with the band? - Morten Harket has a new solo album out called Letters From Egypt. You can order it here.
- Magne F has a new solo album out called a dot of black in the blue of your bliss. You can order it here.
- Paul's band Savoy has a new album out called Savoy Songbook Vol 1. You can order it here.
A-ha also premiered two new songs at their Solo/Together concert at the Royal Albert Hall back in May and announced they were also working on a new album. Check out clips of their new songs: a-ha.com is looking for band photos to feature in their official 2009 calendar. Your photo could be featured!
There are two ways to submit your pictures for consideration:
- Join the new a-ha.com Flickr group and add your original pictures
to the photo stream. Please include the tag ‘a-ha 2009 calendar’ for
any pictures you want to submit to the calendar design team.
- E-mail your original pictures to submissions@a-ha.com with ‘a-ha 2009 calendar’ in the subject line of the e-mail.
So.. how many fans are amongst us? Discuss their fabulousness here...

I was a big fan of A-ha in the 80's/early 90's and one of my bedroom walls was totally covered with posters of them which used to freak my sister out as we shared a room at the time. From what I can see Morten has hardly aged in all this time.
Hunting high and low, manhattan skyline and the sun always shines on tv were my favourite songs by A-ha

Some Magne F/Coldplay news:
Coldplay, A-ha and Mew have teamed up for a one-off supergroup, Apparatjik.
Guy Berryman, Magne Furuholmen and Jonas Bjerre perform the theme to Bruce Parry's new BBC2 series Amazon.
The series starts on September 22, and an album will be out to
coincide. Songs For Survival includes exclusive songs about the series
by Johnny Borrell, Hot Chip, The Go! Team, Mystery Jets, Mike Oldfield,
Jazon Mraz and Yusuf Islam.
http://www.teletext.co.uk/planetsoun...a+team+up.aspx
And older news from Agderposten.no:
For the installation by the Norwegian artist Pernille Gormsen, located
among the trees at Hove, Furuholmen has made the music together with
Coldplay-vocalist Chris Martin. Furuholmen has later transformed and
adapted the recordings to this installation. Any reaction to his own sound installation is welcome, Furuholmen says.
Because that can provide him with possibilities of adding additional
dialogue.

I discovered a-ha by Take on me, which sounds very familiar to me though it's a song before I was born. I start to like them, especially Magne, after listening to their last album Analogue. It's really nice to know that they have a new album to come. Don't know why, when Keane's trouble story was flowing around with Under the iron sea, and that Tom was rumoured to have a solo album, a-ha was the very band I thought of to relate to this situation. You should really check out Magne's myspace. He has plenty of witty blogs.

Same here . I was a huge a-ha fan when they came out in '84/'85 and have loved them since then. I was only 12 then and used to share a room with my twinsister who didn't share my taste in music and wasn't very fond of my life-size a-ha posters on my side of the room... At some point I got rid of the posters but I still have some of their albums on my MP3-player and Hunting High and Low, Living A Boy's Adventure Tale, The Swing of Things and Out of the Blue Comes Green are my favorites.

Mart: Memorial Beach is my favourite a-ha album - if you didn't buy it, I'd recommend going back and purchasing it... after all, at £3 it wouldn't be much of a loss, even if you then didn't like it!
Thanks for the tip, very true, what can you buy for £3 these days.... must be scratched to death!

Ohh! I loved this place to talk about A-ha! Well...I'm Jessica from Rio de Janeiro and is a pleasure to be here.
A-ha is the first band of my heart, since 1998. On 1988 I was a baby and after ten years, I knew A-ha.
And today my heart has 2 pieces: One side A-ha, and the other side Keane. A-ha -> <- Keane My favourites songs (no order): 1- Here I Stand And Face The Rain 2- I've Been Losing You 3- Slender Frame 4- Little Black Heart 5- There's Never A Forever Thing 6- Early Morning 7- Rolling Thunder 8- Thought That It Was You 9- I Call Your Name
10- Out Of Blues Comes Green *Sorry, my english is poor!*

Mmmm, Memorial Beach. Title track is bloody brilliant. It's not my fav album tho. I thought they were trying too hard to be a Doors/U2 equivalent at that time. It didn't work out for them and it actually killed their chances to be just as massive as said bands. Such a shame! I could go on and on about songs like Out of the Blue comes Green, Did Anyone Approach You?, Train of Thought, Sycamore Leaves.. Sigh. It's mind-boggling how those guys created songs like Early Morning, Summer Moved On, HHAL and with the same ease thought up Touchy! and You are the one! Those songs probably make us A-ha admirers appear like freaks to the general public, lol. Ok, maybe Take On Me is also part of the problem. Ohh, before I forget: vote for Take On Me as best 80s single!

Omg,Early morning-such a great song. It's simple,Morten's voice is amazing (as always),and it's so much fun to play I'm not a very good pianist, but it's damn fun playing it on the piano though lol.
*goes to vote although she feels other 80's bands are going to be betrayed....*
EDIT: A-Ha is NOT winning (49.85 %) yet so vote people.

Jessica_Chaplin: And today my heart has 2 pieces: One side A-ha, and the other side Keane. A-ha -> <- Keane I know what you mean !!! (I guess you can tell by my nickname...) I must admit the Keane part of my heart is a little bigger than the A-ha part though. But I do love A-ha and I have ever since I first heard 'Take on me' which must have been October 1985. I've seen them live (head-lining show) in Rotterdam (86), Edinburgh (88), Leeds (88), Cologne(88), The Hague (91), Utrecht (02), Oberhausen (02), Amsterdam (02), Amsterdam (05) and Fredrikstad (07). And met the guys MANY times between 1986 and 2007. My fave A-ha songs include: White Canvas, Cosy Prisons, Analogue, Scoundrel Days, I've been losing you, The blood that moves the body, The sun always shines on TV, Hunting high and low, The swing of things, There's never a forever thing, You'll never get over me, Thought that it was you, Summer moved on, Lifelines, Forever not yours, Don't do me any favours, Solace etc. etc. There are quite a few A-ha songs I HATE as well though (Like from the last album 'Over the treetops' and 'Halfway through the tour' which I always skip. And I really can't stand the live version of 'The living daylights' mainly because of the sing-a-long which annoys the hell out of me.).I'm not too fond of Touchy, You are the one and Cry Wolf either. Way too commercial!! I love Morten's latest solo album as well. Especially 'With you with me'!!!

Well yay I'm so happy A-HA has won :D the competition was like wow, even though I must say there were quite a few I think are brilliant...But with them eliminated A-Ha is the obvious choice imo

I listen to the band since 1985. I name it in my top five wherever I go. My favourite albums are "Stay on these roads", "Memorial Beach, "Minor Earth Major sky", "Lifelines"..
About the solo albums, I only know Morten's "Wild seed" and "Letter from Egypt" I think both are exellent but I like "Wild seed" a little bit more than "Letter from Egypt"
Thanks to Cleopater, who posts in the old Keane board, I could enhance my A-ha collection. Thank you so much Cleopater!!
Now that love is nothing...and nothing really matters.. http://mivid.net/video/3928/Its-sooo-hard-for-me-to-dance-at-home
