After getting over the cynicism of the announcement (heard it before in the early/mid 90's) and listening to Foot of The Mountain again - I truly am saddened by the news that A-ha will be disbanding in 2010. I think they've wanted to end their time as a band for awhile but haven't been completely happy until now with their most recent albums as a "final release". Foot of the Mountain is a proper good-bye. It's a nod to their past but also the most solid album they've released in awhile. I had troubles this morning purchasing a ticket to their final show in Oslo next December but one kind fan heard about my issues and offered me a standing ticket at cost so I'll be able to be there for their final good-bye next year. It'll definitely be a bittersweet affair..

Heard what before in the early/mid '90s? They never officially split up that time: it was always their intention to reunite as a band eventually, and they did (in 1998). This time it's different. I'm totally in shock. Combining a-ha with their separate projects seemed to be working well for them, so I kind of assumed they'd carry on like that forever. Why are they having their farewell concert in such a small venue? Its capacity is less than 10,000. When they decided to split, couldn't they have booked a stadium for a proper send-off?

I can't remember exactly when but they did say at some point through the 90's that they were done as a band, although no official announcement such as the one yesterday was made. And why such a small venue? Perhaps they wanted a more intimate send off? It's not like they aren't touring between now and then. It sounds like they are covering a lot of miles in the next 12-14 months allowing as many fans as possible to enjoy them live one last time..

More farewell tour news, on a-ha.com today:
Second Oslo Date Added! a-ha's final concert on December 4, 2010, sold out within two hours. An additional concert has now been added on Friday, December 3 at the Oslo Spektrum. Tickets for the December 3 concert will go on sale on Wednesday, October 21 at 9 am CET via Billettservice. The world tour, celebrating 25 years of a-ha's music, is being called Ending On A High Note.
World Tour News We have some preliminary information about the previously announced 2010 world tour. Keep in mind that although the following timeframes and countries are not 100% confirmed, we understand this will be the general tour schedule. As specific cities, venues and dates are confirmed, we'll add them to the Upcoming Events page. In March, a-ha will spend approximately three weeks touring in South America. There will be a two-week tour of North American cities in May. The summer months take a-ha back to Europe and the UK for some festivals. Fans in Tokyo and Osaka will have the chance to see a-ha at the Summer Sonic Festival. There is going to be a European tour to wrap everything up in October and November. The timeframe for dates in Australia is not confirmed, but the band is hoping to include that country in the Ending On A High Note tour.

Morten Harket is a shining example of the truth that god does not love all men equally. I think it is unfair that he does not age at all while all us other "mere mortals" have to be victims of the inevitable aging process. My mother is convinced the guy has had surgery done to look younger. I told her it's natural but she's being super stubborn about this.

It's the Scandinavian genes. We age very well ;-)

Yes, he looks amazing for a 50-year-old!!! It's not fair, is it? Remember Tom said Morten was the healthiest looking man he had ever encountered? With lungs like hot air balloons. LMAO. He nailed the 'aaaaaaask' bit in 'Summer moved on' perfectly last night, btw. I think I'm gonna buy tickets to see them again in Oberhausen on November 12. I think I need to see them as often as possible before it's all over.

Pranav,
They'll be here (in the US) in May for 2 weeks. Specific dates and locations haven't been announced yet, so let's cross our fingers they'll be somewhere close!

They probably will target the 2,000 - 3,000 seat venues in North America. That's my gut feeling anyway.. Hopefully they'll go with the older music venues like Keane did last tour that have great acoustics. I can't believe it.. one week from tonight I'll be at the O2 in London seeing a-ha (properly) live for the first time since 1987! And I don't count last year's event at the Royal Albert Hall because that was barely an a-ha concert. Is anyone else here going?
