    PM's must be approved?

Well, today, I was trying to answering a message, but when I finish writing it, said it "must be approved By a moderator." Perhaps, the private messages are not private, anymore (??)

    thanks for your answer ...

    ^^No, PM's aren't moderated, so they're still private. Smile It's probably just a glitch.

No, it happens when you post anything that is considered profanity on the normal forum areas.

The same thing happened to me. I don't trust the Internet at all.

It does seem a little sinister on the face of it. The mods tell us they don't get to read those messages; they do seem to disappear into thin air. Though sometimes the email notifications arrive intact. Huh? Most peculiar.

Never too tired to talk, apparently.

I couldn't agree with you more, Dawn. "Sinister" is an accurate adjective to describe this situation. The person I sent the PM to received an e-mail notification with the text of it.

Moreover, the private messages have the same structure as the ordinary post: they can be reported. And, as far as I know, the reports go directly to the Mods. So that I came to the conclusion that they have the possibility to read our private messages...

    Re: PM's must be approved?

I used to share an e-mail address with my wife, and every morning I would wake up to find our e-mail account spammed with PM message notifications between SuzieQ and justanotherdawn.

They never once said anything complimentary about their husbands. Sad

But seriously no one could be bothered to trawl through hundreds thousands of PM's looking for juicy bits. I set her up with her own e-mail account to save me the bother.

You would think so but no, I can assure you we have never seen or had to moderate a PM. ;) I really wonder where they go.. Confused

There is a young moderator called Vic,

Who believes spying on PM's is sick,

So along with CowPie, she never will pry,

And with Freedom on send you can click.

^^Some posts require more moderation than others. Hmm

So what's the form if you actually need to report something you receive by PM? I've tried the 'Report abuse' function once or twice, but nothing happened. I can think of ways to get around it but nothing that's both private and tamper-proof.

I've just noticed that, until yesterday, we had the option to delete our own posts and PM's, but it seems like this function has been disabled today... Am I wrong? I can see only four choices: Reply - Edit - Favorites - Contact, but not Delete. Maybe the reason is that the delete option expires after a certain amount of time...

I think it expires after a certain amount of time.

Thanks for clarifying. I couldn't remember whether that function was temporary or permanent, but I've come across this right now: "The administrator has configured this forum to have a time limit for deleting messages. If you still require a message to be deleted, please check with a forum moderator."

    Copy-paste it?

The delete option in your Inbox is right under all your messages. ;) As for your posts, I think you can only delete it if your post is the last one of the topic, not sure though.

Sure, copy-pasting is an option; what I meant to imply (without spelling it out) was that if, for example, I fell out with the incomparable Mr D and wanted to get him into hot water, I might be tempted to edit the offending message to make it seem worse than it was. Not that Mr D and I are in the habit of exchanging PMs.

*realises she will never be able to use this option now, dammit*
