• Keane Backline: Full Album Review

I'm being slightly cheeky by including this as a press review (hehe), but I thought I'd post my Keane Backline review of the album on here - some people seem to have missed out on the track-by-track section of the review (there's a link on the original review page on the site), so it's...
Sorry for the double post but did I just hear Tom say that they're compiling a load of old stuff for their fans (recordings of old sessions etc)??? Hope so!!
Tim told me something similar back in July (one of the bits that didn't end up in the interview...

  • Re: Spiralling riff -is that an electric guitar?
However on the record (album) there is a synth overlay on top of the electric guitar.
Not sure about this (i.e. the synth overlay aspect) - the riff sounds too free-flowing to be done on a synth, let alone get such a smooth doubling effect between the two...

  • Re: Who was 4th member on Jonathan Ross? And was it COMPLETELY Live?

Yes, that's definitely a big part of it - Jesse took part in all the recording of the album, so the natural extension of that was for him to join them on the road. Tim spoke at length about the motivations behind getting him involved and also about wanting to get away from the reliance on technology...

  • Re: Keane Backline - Exclusive Tim Interview now online!

No probs! Hopefully some others will come through to help me out - I took some notes and also scooted down to the barrier after the end of the gig to take note of the bass and guitar amps, but some parts of the new effects rack are a mystery... I await photos, people! Btw, how come you didn't say...
All the blogs are wonderful and brilliant, Mart.
Thanks! There's another one online for you to read right now... Btw, I think a couple of people have requested that I increase the size of text I use... I'll have an experiment around at some point soon, but...

  • Re: The Pussycat Dolls
The song is about young girls who are desperate for fame and fortune, and the song rather appropriately warns "be careful what you wish for because you just might get it."
This song incensed me so much that I wrote a blog entry about it - have heard...

Thanks - glad I'm able to help! You could well be right about the Marshall amp - I'm really not sure of the situation with amps in the studio, beyond the Barnett-Davies one... Marshalls are a mainstay of guitar amps, so it wouldn't be that surprising. Would need to see the photo to make more...
